| The FZ engine is very unique because of the muffler, I think. (I got the FZ secondhand, so I don't know what constructor made this muffler.) Lowrange torque is very poor. I am afraid to make a U-turn or to pass cars on the Japanese narrow streets in a traffic jam. But middle and high range torque is powerful. The FZ becomes more torquey from 3,000 to 6,000 rpm, and above 6,500 rpm the engine is wild. If you ride one of the latest liter motorcycles with four cylinder engine, such as ZZ-R1100 or CBR1100XX, you can easily and steadily speed up. The FZ will give you a feeling of acceralation. |

A GENESIS ENGINE is mounted with a inclination of 45 degrees. |
|
| In commuting, you have to change gears frequently. Unless you give much gas and let out the clutch, this machine will start slowly and may be passed by cars. The FZ goes ahead above 3000 rpm. In the city, where I must go and stop repeatedly, I get tired riding. |

FZ has the ventilated double-disc brakes with quad opposed-piston calipers in front.
Its rear brake is also equipped with the ventilated single disc. |
 |
| In canyon riding, the FZ seems happier. It turns quickly and dushes to the next corner. Handling is very good. But the front brakes are terribly poor. Even if the pilot applies brakes hard, they don't work so much. You must break into a cold sweat when you ride on a downhill. The FZ breaks does have a merit; never locking tire. I once replaced 130 rear tire with 150 one. The FZ refused to turn properly. |

There are three meters;a speedometer, a tachometer, and a water temperature meter contaning a fuel gauge. |

In touring, it is pleasant to ride on the FZ. It features a rather upright
position and a wind protection which spoils the wind at a speed of less
than 100 kilometers (60 miles) an hour. The more you accelerate, the harder
the wind hits your head and shoulder. It leads you to fatigue. Crusing
at legal Japanese motorway speeds in top gear generates vibration at the
handlebar, which gradually brings you drowsiness. It is a good point that
the FZ runs 20-25 kilometers (12-16 miles) per liter.
